USSABC Hosts Ambassador Westphal and Visiting Saudi Delegation in Houston
On May 5, 2015, the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC) hosted a reception in honor of the visiting Saudi delegation to the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas. With more than 250 business leaders in attendance, the reception offered executives from U.S. energy firms the opportunity to network with representatives of major Saudi oil, gas, and petrochemicals companies.
The Saudi delegation to OTC was led by The Honorable Dr. Joseph W. Westphal, U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and was composed of top ranking representatives from companies such as Tamimi Group of Companies, Al Abdulkarim Holding, Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Company Ltd., and Zamil Group Holding. Also in attendance were H.E. Sultan Al Angari, Saudi Consul General in Houston, and H.E. Adel Al-Mubarak, Commercial Attaché.
In his remarks, Ambassador Westphal emphasized the importance of the U.S.-Saudi business relationship. “It is vital to the interests of both countries that we sustain and advance trade and commerce,” stated the Ambassador. He also noted that the size of the visiting delegation was a testament to the eagerness of Saudi companies looking to partner with U.S. firms.
Peter Robertson, Former Vice Chairman of Chevron and USSABC Co-Chairman, also delivered remarks. He said that “The bilateral relationship has extended to Saudi Arabia's non-oil economy, resulting in significant growth for both countries in important industries such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure, and the Business Council stands ready to assist companies in entering the Saudi market or expanding the current presence.”
The Business Council would like to thank Laureate International Universities, Aramco Services Company, Sherbiny Holdings, and Fluor Corporation for their support and sponsorship of the reception.
